summer solstice | 06.22.12

i rang in the solstice at an art installation called the dwelling.

on the outside-an inconspicuous house. the inside was full of candles, tarot cards, a wall of human hair, and some giant burlap marionette. perfectly creepy.

farewell, summer.

okay, i didn’t take this one-i’m the one doing a handstand. i’m a photographer, not a wizard!

the lovely haymaker folks invited me to the carolina tiger preserve out in pittsboro last month. we had a great time telling tiger jokes, singing eye of the tiger, and oh yeah-being within three feet of actual tigers.

our awesome tour guide.

only a chain link fence separated us from the tigers. holy crap!

emily’s badass tiger shirt!

i think everyone in our group had a camera out at some point.

akiva, dan and emily of haymaker were so thoughtful-they packed us little field trip goody bags with homemade tiger-striped cookies, juice boxes, string cheese, and a handwritten note. oh, nostalgia!

this tiger was my favorite. his name is jellybean.

dan interviewing lincoln in the visitor’s center.

of course we needed a group shot with a tiger…we decided to go the safe route and use a papier-mâché one. still fierce.
